11-25 LaSalle Tournament- 1st round loss to St. Raymond. This was an extremely talented, intimidating and BIG team that we hung with for the first half. I think at half time, we were all so shocked we were still in the game that we let up in the 2nd half and they pulled away. Regardless, it was a good reason to think we can play with anybody in the area. Game Scoring: Joe 10, Phil 3, Ryan 5, Corey 4. MVP-team

11-26 Ambler Catholic Tournament- Win vs St Joe/St.Robert. A really nice team effort for three quarters by all. We got sloppy in the last several minutes of a game we should have won by 20 points. Still a good win. Game MVP-Ryan, Kyle

11-26 Ambler Catholic Tournament- Loss to St. Albert The Great. The Full court press against us for an entire game was not something that we were quite ready for. Ryan fouled out for almost the entire 2nd half and we probably didn't get the best of the referee's calls. Despite all that we only lost by a few possessions. They ended up losing a close game to MMR for the championship. That was a quality team we could beat the next time we played them. scoring Jonathon 2, Joe 5, chris L 6, Kyle 6, Ryan 2, Corey 5. Game MVP- Corey

12-3 1st regular season game- Win vs St. Jude. Good all around play by everyone. Nice win to start the Region 20 schedule. Scoring: Joe 17, Chris L 7, Phil 1, Kyle 4, Corey 9, Ryan 6. Game MVP- Joe

12-4 2nd game- Win vs OLMC. A much tougher opponent and a much closer game but we stayed in front almost the whole game and despite some poor passing and rushed play late in the 2nd half, we still made our free throws necessary to get the win. Scoring; Chris L 13, Corey 10, Kyle 5, Phil 2, Joe 11. Game MVP-Chris L

12-11 Win vs Corpus Red. Great job by Jonathon, Joe, Chris L, Phil and Kyle to set the tempo of the game for the entire first quarter knowing there were no substitutions allowed. Good even scoring for everyone. Scoring: Joe 5, Jonathan 8, Chris L 7, Chris D 2, Phil 3, Kyle 4, Corey 6, Ryan 4. MVP Jonathan

12-16 Win vs MMR Maroon. Despite a win, not our best effort. Very sloppy play with lots of turnovers. Kyle kept us in the game in the 1st half and Ryan turned it up a notch in the 4th quarter to take over the game. This game was a good reminder that we have to concentrate on playing our best game, EVERY GAME! Scoring: Chris L 6, Phil 2, Kyle 8, Corey 4, Ryan 7. MVP Kyle, Ryan.

12-17 Win vs MMR Blue? Still too many unforced turnovers from poor passing but a better win with improvement all around. For the first time this year, everyone on the team scored in the same game! Scoring: Joe 6, Jonathon 6, Tim 2, Chris L 4, Chris D 2, Phil 1, Kyle 2, Corey 6, Ryan 7. MVP Ryan, Corey

12-18 Win vs Sash Silver. In the first half we continued to play sloppy and out of control but we recovered in the 2nd half for one of our best halves of the year. Nice finish against the only other undefeated team in our division. Scoring: Jonathan 2, Chris L 10, Phil 4, Kyle 8, Corey 6, Ryan 10. MVP Ryan, Chris L, Kyle, Corey

12-26 Win vs Holy Martyr. An extremely weak team that we shouldn't have even played. I thought all the players exercised good discipline by not trying to run up the score by avoiding 3 pointers, fast breaks and 'showing off'. Excellent examples!

12-27 Win vs Shyba Travel team. A nice solid game from everyone once we stopped throwing the ball away(unforced turnovers). MVP Corey, Ryan.

12-28 Loss vs SASH Blue. This team was a well coached aggressive AAU travel team but with only fair basketball skills. Our unforced turnovers and poor shooting prevented this from being an exciting close game. I saw times where players were not playing their hardest and that is a concern.

12-29 Loss to Faith Christian- This was our first really tough loss. We were leading most of the 2nd half and just had a couple of bad breaks in the last minute of the game. Next close game that we are winning, we will be sure to closely guard any 3 point shooters. With Ryan's presence, and Jonathan's shooting we would have easily won this game

12-29 Loss to Ambler Catholic- This was our most impressive loss. Ambler was a really big and talented team led by one of the top players in the phila. area. We fell behind early but played the team dead even the entire second half by playing hard and physical. We just didn't have enough muscle. Missing Ryan and Jonathan made a big difference in this game but I was still very impressed with the way nobody quit and kept playing hard the whole game.

01-07 Loss to Mt Carmel A 40-44- A tough loss to a quality Region 20 team. Foul shooting could have been better. Somebody has to make a big play for us at the end of the game instead of mistakes. TURNOVERS! Joe 21 points, Corey 9, Tim 4, Ryan 3, Chris D 2

01-08 Loss to St Rose 33-35 Back to back losses to good teams by a small margin. Another loss we brought on ourselves as apposed to the other team beating us. TURNOVERS! Chris L 6, Joe 12, Kyle 7, Corey 8.

01-11 Win vs St. Alphonsus 27-21 With only 6 players and very weak shooting, we still managed to beat a pretty good team. Good defense was the reason for the win.

01-14 Win vs St. Jude 45-33. This team really hung with us for a long time. Not our best game but good enough to pull away in the 4th quarter. Nice effort! We're getting better every game. MVP Corey

01-21 Win vs Stans 36-25. This team was very aggressive with constant pressure at both ends. Their guards crashed the boards and with only 6 players, things didn't look good about 1/2 way thru the game. However, we played thru the foul trouble, shooting probs, their aggressiveness and being tired to win down the stretch. Very nice work! scoring; Chris L 2, Joe 18, Kyle 5, Corey 4, Ryan 4, Chris 3. MVP Joe.

01-22 Loss vs Corpus Black 37-57 One of the top three teams in the region needed a 1/2 court press we were'nt ready for to pull away and make the game not look close. Being prepared and being ready to execute various offenses will help avoid a repeat. Staying focused on ALL the little aspects of basketball will help us improve from a good team to a solid 'basketball' team. Scoring: Chris D 6, Joe 12, Chris L 8, Phil 1, Ryan 6, Corey 4.

01-27 Loss vs MMR gold 29-31 Our only loss in A-2 division all season to the worst team in the league.

01-28 Win vs MMR Maroon 43-21 What a difference a day makes. Excellent defense created plenty of scoring opportunities. Balanced scorring with all 8 players. Jonathan looks like he's close to 100%. Jonathan 2, Joe 12, Chris L 3, Phil 4, Kyle 4, Ryan 10, Corey 6, Chris D 2. MVP- Team

01-29 Win vs Sash Silver 53-43. Despite a terrible start (down 8-0) we woke up and went on a 53-25 run. Again, excellent balanced scoring Corey is playing high school quality defense. Both Chris's! great energy coming off the bench. Phil, smart ball handling and tempo control. Aggressive offensive mentality for Kyle gets him his high points for the season. Joe 15, Chris L 7, Phil 2, Kyle 9, Ryan 6, Corey 7, Chris D 7. MVP Ryan was a mad man!

02-04 Loss vs OLMC 22-37.

02-05 Win vs Corpus Red 43-22. Nice game all around by everyone.

02-08 Loss vs SMG HS JV That was an impressive showing! You took on the bigger, faster and stronger undefeated sophomore high school team and basically played them dead even. And I could clearly see they were trying their hardest. When they started to complain about referee calls, you know they were nervous! Nice work! You have reached a new level.

02-10 Win vs Sash Silver. We had an excellent start with Kyle's 7 1st quarter points and it looked like we would win this game easily, but this is a good reminder that you have to play well for the ENTIRE game. SASH didn't give up. They got hot, started getting calls, got Ryan in foul trouble and had the momentum through most of the 3rd quarter. But we played thru all of that and refusing to lose finishing the game in the most impressive way possible. Aggressive offense by Chris D and Phil with key baskets. Excellent rebounding by Ryan, Corey, Joe and Phil in the last few minutes of the game. Clutch one and one foul shots by Chris L and Joe with very little time left and only we were only up by 3. A Key offensive rebound and put back by Corey that fouled out #54. Another key baseline drive and basket by Corey. Overall a great win over a team that seemed extremely determined to win. Remember this game!

02-11 Loss vs MMR White- We knew we were a huge underdog in this game. This team was the #1 seed in Region 20 and quite possibly a top 5 team in the entire philadelphia area. We played them to a 5-8 1st quarter score thanks to all 5 points from Chris L and without Joe. However, we couldn't hold them off any longer with 3 guards. At the start of the 2nd quarter they immediately began to dominate defensively and we didn't have anybody who could step up offensively. We got shut out in the 2nd quarter 18 to 0! Joe's return was a little too late. All 11 of their players scored which shows how deep their team was. We knew we needed our A game to have a chance. I was still very impressed at the way we continued to play hard in the 3rd quarter tying them at 6-6. So for the 1st and the 3rd quarters against their starters we were pretty much even. The 2nd quarter killed us. Nobody likes to get knocked out of the playoffs but we lost to (what in all probability will be) the eventual champions. We should not be overly disapointed with this loss.

02-21-06 Update: MMR defeated SASH by 20+ points and then went on to defeat St. Jude by 20+ points. Then they blew out 2 more teams from other regions! They are in the semi Finals. So we stayed with a GREAT team for a quarter.

02-28-06 Congratulations to Corey, Ryan and Chris L for representing SMG in the All Star game. Corey had to defend a 6' 3" center the whole game and held him to only 4 points. Ryan was his usual self. Not much shooting but excellent defense and hustle. Chris had went 1 for 3 from the outside and had a nice assist. I think Corey had one turnover but otherwise the guys played great!
